Brother QL-800 label printer won;t install

Aft3er using a QL500 for years it finally gave uip the ghost so I bought a new one, which is a QL-800. I just can't get my MacBook to find it. I am on Big Sur 11.7.10. I have tried everything both Apple and Brother suggest - installing/uninstalling etc drivers, changing cables, switching everything on and off umpteen times - and I get nowhere. When I try and install it through the Brother pkg it tells me I haven't got the driver - but I have. I have unstalled the driver for the 500.

If anyone knows the solution I would be very grateful,

Unbelievably, the solution was to turn the Editor Lite button off.

Go to the Brother site and search for the QL-800 and available drivers. If driver support appears for macOS 11, then download the drivers and install them. Then, you will need to visit System Preferences > Printers & Scanners panel and add the QL-800, selecting the newly installed drivers before it will work.

If however, Brother does not provide QL-800 drivers for macOS 11, then you are done before you begin as the QL-800 will be a paperweight without driver support. It will not be automatically supported by macOS. If this is the case, resist the temptation to install any of their software from any DVD that accompanies the device as it will be even further out of date and incompatible with Big Sur.

Thank you. I think ive done all that. I had to get the printer driver online, but it did sY it was for OS11. I get to the stage where i am adding a printer then it says there is no printer driver installed, even though i have installed it. I have tried doing it through Apple software and also with a Brother tool which i downloaded. Numerous times 🙄.

looks like its going back!
