ipad charging connects & disconnects frequently

My iPad connects and disconnects the charging.

The problem is not always present. When the problem occurs, the frequency of connect/disconnect happens about every 5 seconds. The period that the disconnect lasts is less than 1 second.

This seems to be an issue specifically with the iPad’s USB-C port. It is not resolved by changing the USB cable or power adapter.

The problem does not occur while using the USB-C port on the Magic Keyboard.

iPad Pro 12.9” 5th generation

Software is up-to-date at version 17.5.1.

Started about a year after purchase.
