Airdropping from MacBook Pro to iPad Pro does not produce the normal results anymore

I have a workflow, where I drop several PDFs from my MacBook Pro to my iPad Pro to be viewed and used from the Files App. Normally, when I Airdrop these files, the iPad recognizes it and makes me choose the app that I want to open these PDFs. I typically choose Files App. Once I choose Files, the next option is where I will be dropping these PDFs. Usually, I will make a new folder for these specific files.

Now, when I Airdrop PDFs into my iPad, I am not given an option on which app I want to open the files in, they automatically open in the Files App and haphazardly drop them into the downloads folder. Now, I have to find the 5 files that I just Airdropped and move them to the folders that I want them in. This adds a lot of extra time to my workflow. Additionally, I am not able to neatly create a file for the PDFs, so that they go exactly where I want them. Is there a way for me to fix this workflow, or am I stuck with this new inferior way of passing files?
