I keep getting blocked from websites using Chrome on Macbook Pro - Automatic Activity - Robot On the Network

Today, I have been blocked from four different sites while using chrome. I have restarted, cleared cache and cannot get it to stop. Does anyone know how to solve this issue? I didn't think macs were as susceptible to hacking but could that be the issue and how do I find out?

This is one of the messages below and provides the most detail. Others are just saying access denied. Including Instagram. This one came from Etsy.

Why? Something about the behaviour of the browser has caught our attention.

There are various possible explanations for this:

  •  You are browsing and clicking at a speed much faster than expected of a human being.
  •  Something is preventing JavaScript from working on your computer.
  •  There is a robot on the same network (IP _________) as you.

Disable and remove Tor, disable and remove any add-on VPNs clients, and disable and remove similar network-related or security-related add-ons or browser extensions, and test again. Specifically remove the apps here too, as some of the add-ons can be persistent within the network routing even when the app was apparently disabled.

Before I saw your response, I had removed TOR, no change, then I added it back just to try to login to instagram - and it allowed me to do so! But Safari and Chrome would still not let me in. I agree that I should remove TOR and will do so again, despite it being the only browser to let me into Instagram. 😕 I originally downloaded it because I wanted a protected browser (without investing in a VPN) and it came well recommended. Thank you again for your help!

Please download and run EtreCheck, and share the generated report to the clipboard. Then open a new reply here, and press the Additional Text button that looks like a printed pate to get a text input box big enough to paste the hardware and software configuration report here, and paste and post that report here.

Start with this if IntelMac...

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes or more.

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.

Hard to believe, but no. Duh! Next time it happens I will try this! I restarted and cleared all the cache from my browser and the problem stopped for now. Interesting I had just downloaded the TOR browser a week before and I also had just added another Eero extender to my wifi. Not sure if any of those played a part. Thanks for your help!

Ok so I tried this and the same thing happens. This time it is Instagram and it's been doing it for a few days. This is the response I get from both browsers: Something went wrong There's an issue and the page could not be loaded.

Send a trouble ticket to instagram but no dice.

It lets me go through the motions of logging in and then sends me a security code. Before I can even get the code into the box, the above error pops up. I'm at a loss.

Hi! Thanks for this suggestion. I will definitely try this next time it happens. I restarted and cleared all the cache from my browser and the problem stopped for now. Interesting I had just downloaded the TOR browser a week before and I also had just added another Eero extender to my wifi. Not sure if any of those played a part. And you are correct. Virtually NO support on Chrome for this. Thanks for your help!
