Keyboard makes apps unresponsive
Device: iPhone 13 mini
iOS version: 17.5.1
I'm having a problem with the keyboard making apps unresponsive (which I'll call "the bug" for brevity). The reason I think the bug is related to the keyboard is because the main trigger seems to be highlighting text, as one does when editing or copying a word to paste elsewhere. When the the bug arises I cannot interact with the affected app at all, but I can switch to a second app and use it normally. If the bug occurs in a second app it usually releases its grip on the first one; the first app usually crashes but at least I can open the app again and resume using it. Terminating the affected app does not clear the bug. Performing a force restart does clear the bug but only temporarily.
I do not have any 3rd party keyboards installed and am using just the Apple US English and Emoji keyboards. I have tried removing and re-adding these, as well as doing the same with the dictionaries (Currently using only the Apple English dictionary).
I am to the point where I'm considering a factory reset. I really don't want to do that if I don't have to because it is a big hassle to onboard a phone for work use and I need to use Authenticator app as part of 2FA to access work resources.
