black and red vertical lines

My Macbook has black and red vertical lines upon start up. After about 20 seconds the screen sometimes goes white and restarts but sometimes just stays with the black and red lines. Any idea what the failure could be? I have already replaced the ram.

Hi,

If your MacBook Pro has Intel HD graphics is shared with main memory, reseats memory sticks or back to old memory and see if it still appears red and black lines on the screen.

If it doesn't help, following article could help your issue.

If your Mac starts up to a blank screen - Apple Support

If it doesn't either, I suppose your MacBook Pro has graphic related hardware issue. You'd better take your MacBook Pro to your local retail AppleStore, Genius Bar or Apple Authorized Service Provider to be examined your MacBook Pro there.
