A pro res video sent to me over sms keeps converting to Jpeg and getting stuck on the first image frame while trying to import it into files and DaVinci Resolve

I have an issue that is continuing to impede my work. This issue is the fact that every time I try to convert a video that has been sent to me over SMS and location the location of the Pro res raw video is photos and every time I try to place it into files and DaVinci Resolve, it keeps converting to a single frame Jpeg. This issue continues to prevail even after troubleshooting for hours help would be much appreciated.

By SMS do you really mean that the ProRes movie was transferred via short message service? I'd use some cloud service like DropBox, iCloud etc or sneakernet for that.

FWIW I just tested and at least Ventura Photos.app converts ProRes PCM to a much smaller H.264 AAC if such movie is drag'n'dropped. So use Export Unmodified as Yer_Man suggested.

To get video from Photos you use the File -> Export -> Export Unmodified Original command.
