For me, simply turning ‘Protect Mail Activity’ off was insufficient. Turning it off revealed two further switches: ‘Hide IP Address’ and ‘Block all remote content’. Turning ‘Hide IP Address’ off did the trick.
Still, the abrupt change in Mail behavior indicates something is awry in Apple land, and ‘Hide IP Address’ is a useful feature. Have to remember to re-enable it when the problem is resolved.
No, nothing is awry. It was a new feature added in iOS 17.5.

Everyone check again. Mine is working now. It hadn’t worked since yesterday and it’s all back to normal now.

I am having this issue since last night. I did turn off Protect Mail Activity as someone suggested but no luck.

Email will not load. At the top it says network settings are preventing it from loading! Nothing has been touched on my iPhone 14. Just started doing this!

Same here. Just started on 7/25/2024. Sect same issue.
Wrong. The problem just started July 25 with no settings changed. 🙄 Making me click to see the content of an email doesn’t protect me from anything.
