AirPods Pro goes back to default name even after renaming them

Whenever I rename my airpods in my bluetooth settings the next time I connect to them they go back to the default name. Not a huge issue that impacts my listening experience or anything but it'd be nice to change the name and actually have it save. Using Airpods Pro connected to iPhone XR running on IOS 17.5.1 if anyone has any suggestions!! Thank ya!
