How to fix network adapter with plugable USBC-6950PDZ on MacBook Pro?

I use a plugable USBC-6950PDZ to connect two monitors to Nov 2023 MacBook Bro M3 Pro chip. The monitors work fine, but I realized that my network adapter is not connecting. Does anyone else have this problem? I'm using Sonoma 14.5.

I get the same results (no connectivity) regardless of the adapter that I use.

Apple support suggested that I reinstall iOs - that is not the solution.

you do not have Ethernet on the list of interfaces. that has no hope of working.

settings/preferences > Network.

since ethernet is not shown as an interface, ADD it by clicking the [+] button under the list, and choosing the appropriate interface to add. its exact name will vary with Hardware used.

to use as your connection to the Internet, Ethernet must be moved TOPMOST by choosing 'set service order' and dragging it to the top, from the choice of options under the list of Networks.

I don't know what Filters are, but if that indicates you are using proxy or a VPN, stop it.

Thank you for the screenshot.

May be a bug in the macOS update. So,...

A. First, Report this to Apple:

Do your Part: Provide Apple with feedback on this, letting them know about this issue.  Apple may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is occurring, and what bug fixes to include in updates to come. Apple will know nothing of this, if you don't report it to them.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - macOS - Apple
  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment: that this all started after installing an update, and how you have troubleshot it thus far. Include the URL to this thread.
  4. Proceed from there as necessary

Next...

B. Reinstall the macOS:

So, one option would be to reinstall the macOS to fix any bugs in this app. Nothing would be lost. It's just that misplaced items would be placed back to where they should be and corrupt system files would be replaced by clean files. Go Here: Reinstall macOS - Apple Support. Boot into Recovery Mode (Intel or Silicon).  Important: Prior to installing an update or performing a reinstallation, to prevent data loss, be sure to Back up your Mac with Time Machine.

I had the same thought (trying to push too much through). I tested this theory by disconnecting the ethernet from the docking station and connecting it with a separate adapter to another USB-C port. I get the same results.

The docking station worked fine (display and data) in previous releases of Sonoma on this MacBook as well as my other MacBook with the M2 Pro chip.

I'm experiencing the same error on both machines.
