Horafly eSIM not letting me associate my number for imessage

I installed an eSIM for my travel to Asia and seems to be connecting to the network here fine but I’m not getting my text messages.

when I go to settings, the messages and toggle on iMessage, it keeps spinning next to my number and the check mark that’s supposed to show up doesn’t. It just continues to spin as if it’s trying to connect my number but doesn’t.
