is an ipad 10th gen with a case compatible with magic keyboard

to me it doesn’t look like the Magic Keyboard folio will be enough to protect my iPad 10th gen if I dropped it or something, so I wanna know if the keyboard still works with the iPad if it has a case on it.

The Magic Keyboard is meant to connect directly to the back of the iPad, allowing it to charge and function. With a case, your iPad will not be able to properly connect. If you feel the iPad needs more protection, you can purchase a sleeve from many third party sellers. I have an iPad Pro Gen 6 and use it with a Magic Keyboad. When traveling, it all goes into a padded sleeve, just to make sure. I understand about wanting to keep it safe.
