iPhone Mail draft messages appear empty/lost sometimes (FIXED)
When I go to conferences and events, a lot of the time I use my Mail app to jot down notes or create drafts in relation to the people I meet and talks I listen to. Eg. an investor tells me he will invest $10M and that I should send him the pitch deck, and other things, and he gives me his email address which I type into the "To:" field, and I write down some notes about our conversation in the draft. The drafts appear at the bottom of the Mail screen.
The iphone battery ran out for a few hours and when I charged it, I realized that the 4 email drafts I had stacked at the bottom of the screen are all showing up as empty. The draft windows are still there, but in each of them, there is nothing in the To field, From field (odd), Subject, or body/description.
This has happened to me many times before, and I am only now realizing that it coincides with battery depletion. Usually when this happens, I close the empty drafts thinking that all the super important life changing information has been lost. If I try to close the empty draft, it asks if I want to discard the draft. Usually Mail does not do this if the email draft is empty, so it got me thinking that the contents are actually there associated with that draft window.
But I just figured out how to make them appear again. If I go to the Drafts folder, and click on the emails there, some of those drafts correspond to the email drafts that are at the bottom of the Mail screen, and then the content will magically reappear. However, if you just close the blank draft, it will ask you if you want to discard it, and if you select Yes, then you do lose the content for real. So don't close those blank windows thinking that they are blank drafts! Mail is just not showing you the contents!
I'm just posting this in case other people experience the same thing.
