Music storage difference between Apple Music and Spotify

Hi, Do someone knows the difference in music storage between Apple Music and Spotify. Are downloaded musics/playlist of both apps storage the same way and same place or not?

To give context, in my car, I have a dedicated "IPod" entry, but my iPod died. So I thought l'd use my iPhone with Spotify. But, though the phone was detected, no music could be heard. I assume it's because the car couldn't find the music on the phone, maybe cuz it was in Spotify folder. So, would there be a difference if I used Apple Music, like the way the musics are stored would more like the IPod?

Hi Max, Back in the day I had a Nissan with one of those dedicated iPod interfaces. I kind of doubt it will work with an iPhone, but feel free to experiment.

Also, if your player has an "aux" port, you can connect your phone using a Lightning to 3.5 mm audio jack connector. That would work with Apple Music, Spotify, or anything else on the phone that has audio output.

Spotify does not work like an iPod. You can play songs from the Spotify app. Each song will either use the local Spotify version if you have downloaded it, or will stream it over WiFi or cellular.

In the car, you can use it with the iPhone speaker, or Bluetooth, or CarPlay.

Max,

What might be cost-effective in your case is a bluetooth car speaker that can clip to the interior and would work with your phone. Check out some options at Amazon, Best Buy, or other retailer.

Hi, thanks.

Well, the thing is, it’s a 2011 car, so it doesn’t have CarPlay, and Bluetooth but only for phone not music.

There was a built in entry for the IPod, and we could even see all the playlists on the car screen, so we didn’t even needed to take the iPod out.

So my question would be, does Apple Music works like that? Much like an IPod, and the musics/playlists would really be stored on a folder readable like the iPod back then, or something working similarly?

Hi,

yeah I though of that too, but sadly there’s no jack port.

The iPod port was an option, but it deleted all other ways to put music (except discs).

I was just hoping that having music through Apple Music would store that differently from Spotify, and that it would be readable for a car like the iPod, but without having to buy it…😅
