I changed my friends email address in contacts, but when I type his name to send a new message his old address automatically appears

M1 iMac with current OS software. I changed my friend's email address in Contacts (deleted the old one), but when I type his name into the To field to send a new message his old address automatically appears. Is the old one stores somewhere even though it's been deleted in Contacts?

iMac 24″, macOS 14.5

Thanks, but that's not correct -- I just found out how to remove the old address, and it's very simple:

Correct behavior really. You can try restarting in Safe Mode which may help, until the Mac forgets the old information. Until then you just have to pay attention and correct.
