Recently ported your number and mobile number showing as unavailable to iMessage and FaceTime?

If you get this message; this phone number cannot be used by Imessage and Facetime. You must have a SIM associated with an Apple Device for xxx to be used for Imessage and Facetime, then read on!


I was getting this message and no amount of signing into and out of imessages, facetime, icloud account, iphone would fix it. The only thing that did it was to reset my network settings (after chatting to someone at Smarty - they advised me to do this).


  1. From home screen, tap settings
  2. Tap General
  3. Tap transfer or Reset iPhone
  4. Tap Reset
  5. Tap Reset Network Settings
  6. Tap Reset Network Settings again

Afterwards your old unported number should disappear and be replaced with your new ported phone number. I really hope that helps someone, i spent AGES trying to resolve this!
