Trade in refunded to Apple account vs. gift card?

purchased a new iPhone online using gift cards redeemed to my Apple account and charged the remainder to my Apple Card. Once the trade-in processed, those funds went to my Apple account. I want to redeem the trade-in funds for actual gift cards. Isn’t the balance in my Apple account being depleted by my current subscriptions billing?

iPhone 15 Pro Max, iOS 17

Yes, Apple Account is the first account to be used for Apple subscriptions, purchases etc.

Generally speaking, you cannot use gift cards or funds from gift cards to purchase other gift cards. Technically, that would be a form of money laundering. Not accusing, just trying to explain the restrictions Apple has in place.
