iPhone 14 Pro Max Unresponsive Screen
My iPhone 14 Pro Max screen became unresponsive out of the blue. The phone seemed to work just fine, because it showed notifications and was receiving phone calls, but I was unable to unlock the screen to answer. Spent more than 5 hours on chat and on the phone with Apple support and nothing. They concluded that it is a hardware issue. Out of the blue!
The phone is 18 months old and the problem started a while ago. When the phone was just 12 months old, I realized that battery life dropped to 86%. I contacted Apple support and they said that there is nothing wrong. For reference, I have an iPhone 7s, 6 years old (or even more) that has 89% battery health. Getting back to the iPhone 14 Pro Max: a few months ago it started having huge delays in displaying the text I was typing (in whatsapp for example). Moving forward, a month ago I started getting notifications, multiple times a day, every day, about the Private Relay being off and on again. A few weeks ago, almost all my contacts just disappeared while I was using whatsapp. Out of more than 1.500 contacts, I was left with only 150. Again, out of the blue, without me doing anything unusual. Contacted Apple and managed to recover the contacts but got no reasonable explanation about why that happened.
And, finally, today, I woke up and realized that I can't turn off the alarm, because touch screen was unresponsive. Wasted a whole day chatting and talking with Apple support, went to the Apple service (recommended by them), and ended up with nothing. Screen is still not responding and, after performing an update, guided by an Apple Senior Advisor, the screen just turned white, displaying a "Slide up to recover" message. The only option I have now is to buy a new phone, as the screen replacement estimation is at least 500 Euros. While waiting for a consultant at the Apple service, overheard two other customers in front of me complaining about the same issue (unresponsive screen) for the same iPhone model.
I've been using Apple since 2007-2008. I have the whole Apple ecosystem, except for the Apple watch. Never had any serious issues with any Apple device I've ever owned.
I was expecting premium quality for a $1.500 phone but, from what I see here, in the Apple community, iPhone 14 Pro Max has serious issues that are affecting a lot of users and many of them are complaining about unresponsive screens.
That's just not okay, Apple! :( It seems obvious that the problem is on your side.
