Setting up Monterey Apple Mail for Hotmail and MSN to use Microsoft’s modern authentication methods
Hotmails and MSN are the email addresses I use the most because of a long history using them.
Microsoft's modern authentication methods (June 28, 2024 email notification) prevents my future use of Apple mail.
According to Microsoft's email and web instructions states "Apple Mail supports modern authentication by default when you setup the account as Outlook.com.
To mitigate issues, Microsoft describes a process for an iPhone
I need a process for my MacBook Pro running Monterey 12.7.5.
I've tried to employ the Microsoft described process on my MacBook Pro. It directs me to remove the MSN and hotmail accounts, then add them back by selecting the Outlook.com option from a scroll down menu.
Problem: Outlook.com does not appear in the scroll down menu.
I do NOT have a Microsoft Exchange account, but if I try to use Microsoft Exchange as described in some help chats, it asks for my email login and password, then rejects my access by not recognize either my Hotmail or MSN email addresses and logins.
Of course both account work fine with my Office 365 Outlook app but it fills the screen with advertisements and asks my if I would like to upgrade.
According to Microsoft, my Monterey Apple Mail is able to address the new modern authentication method for my Hotmail and MSN email accounts. However, Apple Mail is not presenting the Outlook.com option to set up my MSN and Hotmail accounts after I start by deleting my accounts.
How do I get my Monterey Apple Mail to access my Hotmail and MSN email accounts by using the modern authentication method now required by Microsoft?
