iOS 17.6.1 Battery Draining Fast

This is ridiculous, this update has near bricked my phone! And the rubbish response of ‘oh just wait until it reindexes’ is trash - it’s been 2 weeks and I can’t go more than 6inches from power with an immediate power draw to 0%.

when is Apple going to fix this????

from fully charged (Apple managed to 80% - thanks for nothing) to 5% in 22mins - either Apple is determined to advance the world’s efforts in global warming, or they really stuffed up!!

Noticing the same thing on my phone, my wife and son's too. We're all on SE 2022, updated yesterday and charged our our phones last night and already down to between 50-60% whereas prior to update by this time of day, we'd still be at 80-90%. Apple, you can do better than this!

This is such BS they need to fix. I have a pro max 14 so it’s not that old that it should be draining like this. It’s been installed for well over a week so the comments about it fixing itself it wrong. Thinking of leaving Apple since they can’t seemed to take care of business. Not the most powerful anymore by any means

I have iPhone 15 Pro Max, and my battery health was 99% before the iOS 17.6.1 update, and when I updated to iOS 17.6.1 and checked the battery health, I was surprised when I saw it at 97%; it dropped two percentages within a few minutes during the installation.

And now, 12 days after the update, I was surprised even more when I saw the battery percentage at 95%!!! It just dropped 4% within 12 days!!!

I have an iPhone 13 Pro that is 1 year old, running 17.6.1, and suddenly the day after the iPhone 16 was released my battery is draining really fast. For example, today after only 1 hour of minimal usage (reading, social media, messaging) it is at 75% and dropping about 1% per 1-2 minutes of usage. Battery health says 91% which doesn’t make sense for a 1-year-old device. Apple must address this forthrightly.

I have implemented every suggestion found to resolve the iOS 17.6.1 battery drain, with no luck. I apparently have a $1,000 brick that must live on a constant trickle charge. What happened to that great Apple attention to detail and quality control??

At least tell us when Apple engineers expect to have a fix. My battery literally goes from 100% to 10% in minutes. My phone is little more than a dumb storage device now. 🤯😡🤬

same here. I've thought Apple did this trick only when the iPhone is over 2 years old but my 15 pro is just about 1 year old until I saw the iOS18 is available when checking the software version.... I'll stop updating before my iPhone hitting the 2 year point. GOOD JOB APPLE!

This is something Apple alludes to in its troubleshooting wiki, but I’m curious if you have any insight as to what exactly is occurring post-update to cause the battery drain?

I admit I was secretly hoping you might have a lead on where I could learn more about the referenced processes. 😉 But that doesn’t mean I don’t value the correction. (I do.)

I do recall having trouble pulling an appropriate vocabulary word out of my brain and was thinking about parallels in content and structure when I opted for ‘wiki’ as an analogous substitution. You make a valid critique of word choice re: the collaborative dimension of the definition. That’s an unfortunate error on my part and is def kinda bugging me now, since I specifically try to write with the role the forum plays as a longterm reference document in mind. 😕

17.6.1 isn’t a large update, it was just a security/bug fix update FYI.

I’ve just bought a new iPhone 15 pro and battery drains pretty fast- same as my old 14 pro

Same issue - it's not the 72 hour re-index. My battery drains so fast the phone gets very warm. Overnight it lost 45% of charge as opposed to maybe 4/5 %

Same Issue Here and i have Problems with overheating After the Update - iPhone 15 pro

does anybody Adress this to Apple?

Security/bug fix or not, my iPhone 15 pro max battery drops from 100% charge to less than 25% in 3-4 hours, where 3 days ago my battery lasted at least 2 full days without needing a charge.
