Sluggish iMac. How does my Etrecheck look?

I have noticed a performance issues with my iMac over the last several months. This is in the form of slow to load wait times and extended processing times in certain apps. Does anyone have any thoughts on my Etrecheck report?

Write speed is now 127 MB/s and read speed 490 MB/s.

Your Writes are still slow —should be nearly the same as Reads—but still fixable. I encountered the same issue after installing an aftermaket SSD in one of my Macs. The SSD started fast right after installation but about a year the Writes started to slow. Read speeds were unaffected.

To add to HWTech's always excellent advice, I found I had to boot the computer in Safe Mode several times before TRIM restored full Writes speed to the SSD. I found I had to let the computer "soak" in safe mode for about 30 minutes at a time to give it a chance to do all its checks and fiddling. After several "soaks," the SSD Writes returned to their 500MB/sec max speed and have stayed there for the last 4 years.

I was running NextDNS but it is now removed. No AV or cleaning apps on my system as far as I know. I've run EtreCheck a few times now, please find the report attached.

I do have a LaCie Mobile Drive drive plugged in at all times and I just noticed it does NOT have TRIM enabled. However, I came across a couple posts mentioning that some manufacturers recommend against TRIM since it can interfere with the internal management software.

The SSD's write speed is really bad. During the report the SSD's write speed at 19MB/s was worse than most hard drives. I see you did not enable TRIM support, I would highly recommend enabling TRIM support to see how the SSD behaves afterwards. Use the following command in the Terminal app:

sudo trimforce enable

If this does not help, then check the health of the Samsung SSD by using DriveDx (free trial period) and posting the complete text report here using the "Additional Text" icon which looks like a piece of paper on the forum editing toolbar. Health reports for SSDs must be interpreted by someone familiar with SSDs since apps like DriveDx may show a "Warning" or "Failing" condition that may not be anything to worry about.....sometimes it is very hard to tell since some SSDs do not always provide enough health information to make a good assessment.

It also seems like you may not have enough memory for one of your workloads since you ended up using about 4GB of Swap. Did you ever have the memory replaced or upgraded? It is unusual to see just a single stick of memory on an iMac from the factory which may indicate one of your memory modules or memory slot may have failed. If this is the original Apple memory, how much memory should this iMac have....it currently is showing just a single 16GB memory module? Is a third party memory module installed? If so, what is the make & model (part#)?

Edit: Please do not make multiple threads for the same issue. I just saw your earlier thread. It just causes confusion and it wastes our time because contributors will not realize another conversation exists perhaps with more details. I've asked the moderators to remove your other thread to avoid confusion.
