Buying Used Iphone 15

I am looking to purchase a second hand Iphone 15 Pro Max. I've checked the IMEI and everything appears good. Not blacklisted, phone is unlocked, no sim lock. Checked the Verizon trade in page and phone is not on a payment plan. Seller says phone is paid off. Is there anything I need to check? If phone is completely erased and I am able to log in with my apple id, do I need to worry that seller can still report the phone lost or stolen or am I good to buy the device?

Even though the used iPhone you are trying to buy may look good, there are still a few things to watch out when buying used Apple products. The phrase buyer beware means that when you are buying used Apple products, you have to beware that it’s not activation locked, or else the device is practically useless.

Ask for the Original Purchase Receipt for any used device (you may truly need this in the future). The receipt should show the device serial number on it. If they don't have it or won't provide it, move along.
