How long does it take to charge iPhone 13 Pro Max from 20% to 80%
How long does your phone take to charge from 20% to 80% on fast charge?
I have one and it takes an hour. Is that normal?

That partly depends on what you mean by “fast charge”. What Apple means: You are using an Apple 20W or higher USB-C/PD power source, plugged in directly, not wirelessly. That should charge from 20% to 70% (a 50% increase) in 30 minutes. Once it has charged by 50% it will pause to cool down, because fast charging generates a lot of heat.

Apple says Fast Charging should charge your phone 50% in 30 minutes. So, depending on the age of your battery, yes, that sounds within the normal range.
Go to Settings>Battery>Battery Health. What is the number next to "Maximum Capacity?"

My battery health is 87% and it takes an hour to get from 20 to 80%. I also use a separate fan to cool my phone down. My phone doesn’t get hot while charging. I’m using a 35w apple brick and an original cable. Is that normal? My other phone with worse battery health charges faster than my 13 pro max
Did you read Lawrence's replay above? Once the phone fast charges 50%, which would take you to 70%, it will pause to cool down. So, it sounds normal.
Lawrence also gave the best advice. Unless it's impossible to do so, charge your phone overnight. It will then be ready to go in the morning, and you won't have to worry about this very often. And you won't need a fan.
The time it takes for your iPhone to charge depends on your Battery Health and is different for everyone. Go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health and you can view your Battery Health for your iPhone, Apple recommends replacing the battery below 80% Battery capacity. The more you use your iPhone and the battery will age, the amount of hours on a charge will decrease.
I dont think it’s normal for you to use a separate fan to have to cool your phone down. Each and every phones battery health and performance is different, you can look into higher watt charging.
It takes more than 30 minutes to charge 50%. It takes 50 minutes for 50% and the phone stays cool. It charges 1% in 1 minute.
Let me add that I never fast charge. I charge overnight, every night, with a 7.5 watt vertical MagSafe compatible wireless charge pad, phone rotated to landscape mode so the Standby Mode screen is displayed all night.
And except in very rare circumstances I don’t charge at all during the day, and, as I said, never need to fast charge.

I would look at the charger itself. ⇠ 👀
Fast charging increases heat (which is why your fan idea prevents overheating).
An iPhone XS Max is an older device that has aged beyond reasonable battery expectations.
I certainly understand your desire to continue using it until it stops working, but that can happen when you depend on it, such as a GPS while driving.
Next month is the next expected iPhone release for your consideration.
Shopping for a brand new iPhone is always exciting. 📲
Good luck! 👋🏼😉

That's not what you described above. You said it took an hour to charge from 20% to 80%.
But again, Lawrence give you the best advice.
I have my car mount in front of the air conditioning vent and it makes a huge difference when using my iPhone during the summer heat.
Using a fan is a smart strategy. 😉
Sorry Smilin-Brian, that is a good way to cool your phone down. I was thinking the author just literally put a fan up to their iPhone to cool it down, your way is very efficient and effective!
