What is the shortcut key to open new document?

As shown below, the New Document is highlighted but I can't open it with the return key. I have to click on it. Also the Open option below is also greyed out. How can I open a new document without using the trackpad at all?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 14.5

On Numbers 14.1 running under Sonoma type 'command-n' followed by 'return'.

That looks to be just the Numbers folder in iCloud Drive in Finder with a "New Document" icon, which is odd because I can't find a way to get that.

I guess the question then becomes, how exactly are you getting to that screen / window? What do you do to bring it up?

Also, what happens when you tap the enter key?

If it tries to change the name under the icon, then that indicates its just a file named "New Document" that you are using to create a new Numbers file, but is not really an interface item.

In any case, actually opening the Numbers App, rather than the folder in iCloud Drive, should get you the regular screen Idris shows in her reply.

How did you get to that view? When I open Numbers on my Mac, tap Command-N to create a new document, I don't get that screen. This is what I see:

Tapping return opens the highlighted template.
