Re: "People can't hear me when using AirPods"

Seems, on iPhone,

  • the volume may need to be adjusted while you are actually on the call.
  • Make sure you are not accidentally on "mute" :
  • Check the call is going to the AirPods

See Apple support's article (link below):

While on a call on iPhone - Apple Support

Eg: says

To change the volume, press the volume buttons on the side of iPhone.

Or swipe down on the call banner, then do any of the following:

  • Mute: Tap the mute button.
  • Put the call on hold: Touch and hold the mute button.
  • Talk handsfree: Tap the audio button, then choose an audio destination.

If you wish" you can: Change the settings of your AirPods and AirPods Pro - Apple Support

Eg: Set Microphone to left, right or automatic

There's a microphone in each AirPod, so you can make phone calls and use Siri. By default, Microphone is set to Automatic, so that either of your AirPods can act as the microphone. If you're using only one AirPod, that AirPod will be the microphone.

You can also set Microphone to Always Left or Always Right. You can also set Microphone to Always Left or Always Right to always have either the right or left AirPod use the microphone even if you remove it from your ear or put it in the case.
