Credit card verification loop

I can no longer download apps to my iPad due to an endless loop asking me to enter a valid credit card. This happens in iTunes and in the iPad's app store.

The credit cards I've used to purchase apps have $25,000+ limits and just worked two days ago in iTunes. I've used them just today for other minor purchases elsewhere.

I have tried 6 different credit cards with $20,000+ limits, with the correct addresses, security codes, and everything perfect. None are working now. Itunes loops and keeps saying "Your credit card was declined. Please enter valid credit card information."

This happens also when I try to set it up with two different VALID Paypal accounts.

I can't even download FREE apps now! What gives? I'm on the latest version of iTunes.

You must email apple via the iTunes support website ... they will resolve it. There is little you can do outside the obvious on your own for most of these cases. Be patient.
Support originally recommended updating my user information which although didn't resolve my issue, it may be of help and just wise for others. That can be done here under the "Manage your account" link ... they told me to confirm and make certain all data was accurate here.
https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/

This issues is in another thread as well for both Windows and Mac users ... http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2552101&start=50&tstart=0

Follow up:
After filling out a support ticket (form) via Apple's Support website ... In about 48 hours I received an email from Apple Support stating they were working on the problem and give it up to 24 hours to be resolved. Also to reply to the email if there was any further issue.
However ... they fixed it right off the bat and I can make purchase again.
Thank you Apple Support ... much appreciated.

I'm the original poster... again.

UPDATE 2:

I sent a little nasty-gram email saying that they told me 5-6 days, and it was day 8. I told them I was going to post it all over the internet and sent a link with this thread.

Maybe it was my nasty-gram, or maybe I was already in queue. Either way, I'm back in business again, but with a very bad taste in my mouth for Apple (pun).

I just downloaded 50 apps before the system gets messed up again.

I both called and emailed multiple times, so I don't know which of the 10 contacts actually worked or if it was my lame attempt at threatening evil Microsoft's almost-twin-brother.

I would recommend you guys still with the problem to copy/paste this thread link into your correspondence with the Apple guys in India and tell them you're going to post this all over CNet and your grandma's blog and hopefully you'll get their attention.

The squeeky wheel gets the Apple grease, which is how I feel about my iPad now. Not very impressed. Took almost 10 days to fix.

Hope it works.

But keep hope alive! Steve Jobs just added a new iTouch and a whole new line of iPods that are sure to have problems. So if you don't get your iTunes problem ("issue") fixed soon, you'll be further behind than you are now.

I wish there was a "dislike" button for iTunes on here somewhere.

I'm not too sure what I did to fix the same problem with the authorization loop, but it something I did worked. I was frantically searching around for info on this and just did the following:

**BTW, I am on Mac OSX 10.6.8, issue was authorization loop while trying to update apps on iPad2 version 4.3.3

1. I went into Safari and chose to "reset Safari" menu -> Safari -> reset Safari. I selected all and reseted. Then exited the app completely.

2. I logged my out of my appleID on the iPad and shut it down.

3. I also cleared all cache, history, cookies, etc. in Firefox, and exited the app.

4. Opened Itunes, logged out, and exited app

5. opened Firefox, and changed my account info at:

http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?nnmm=ac ct&sf=wHF2F2PHCCCX72KDY

6. I first changed my password, then...

7. I switched C.C. info

8. Changed my address from "123 S. Abc St." to "123 Abc St." ommited "S."

9. updated it, then logged out, cleared history, cache, cookies, etc. and exited Firefox.

10. Opened Itunes, logged in (with new password), logged out, exited.

11. Turned on iPad, logged in (with new password), removed "Payment Information" in Store settings (in Settings)...

12. Closed Settings, opened App Store, and updated. it worked!

Not sure if this will help anyone, but something I did worked for me.

Good luck in your solutions...

hi everyone--I posted here that I was having the same issue.

So, called my bank to ensure that my info was right (which I knew it would be!). She asked me "are you having problems making purchases?" and I mentioned only with iTunes and even on downloading free content, since my card is connected to the iTunes account.

Turns out it's a known problem with iTunes and some credit cards. According to what she said--iTunes performed an upgrade and they've been having this issue since (maybe a few days ago). Hopefully this will be fixed soon... since I just bought an iPad last night and can barely use it!!!!

After 2 days it's still working fine. The funny thing is, I got an e-mail from iTunes today telling me that they found and corrected a zip code error in my account. They said I had used an old out of date code. When I wrote back to inform the guy that he corrected nothing and was taking credit for what I had found, I got a second response apologizing but still trying to take credit and giving me 5 free video credits for my trouble. They have no clue what they are doing.

Whilst on the phone with my bank, I tried entering my iTunes details about a dozen times. The bank said that there were no hits on their end when the card was declined and that it must be something wrong on the iTunes side. As a test, I changed my iTunes account to Australian and got the bank to Enter my old Australian details for my card. Suddenly, my card was accepted. But good things don't last forever. After one purchase, the card was declined again. So I changed my card details back to my American address, and now I can't return my American iTunes store because, silly me, you need a credit card that itunes won't decline to change store location. The fact that it accepted the card in the Australian store was, as my bank said, a fluke. Unfortunately, I'm now stuck with an American credit card and an Australian iTunes store that I can't change to American. Woe. I do hope they fix this extremely soon.

Having the same problem, but my husbands phone is not & we've both done the proper updates. I've tried 3 different credit cards (one being my husbands), powering the phone on & off, checking & rechecking my account info on itunes, & making sure my info IS correct & it is.

I've emailed the itunes part of Apple support. Says it may take 48 hours to respond to my issue.

I'll post something if it gets fixed, but seeing the general census is calling or emailing Apple is how to fix it.

I just sent off another ****** off email to their support.

It is clear to me that this problem is because the Apple morons have started doing some sort of IP verification, and if you're not inside of US it gives locks up your account.

The problem is very well described here:
http://www.aeromental.net/2010/08/31/itunes-store-bug-your-credit-card-was-decli ned-please-enter-valid-credit-card-information-2/

please share this with your blogger friends and spread the word, this is a much bigger problem then we assumed.

It has been 9 days that I cannot purchase apps on my iphone4, ipad, and my wife's iphone3 ...because we're on an extended vacation?!

keep sending some nasty emails, i just sent another one

This also happened with me. It has been a week so far and itunes support refuses to help. All they do is tell me that it is not them but my bank. I spent at least an hour on the phone with my bank, including 30 minutes with the head of my credit card services. We determined that the problem is not on the side of the bank but with itunes. Itunes will do nothing to help me with the matter they just parrot the same thing, "not our problem, too bad so sad" You cannot call apple billing support so I fear that This problem will never be fixed. One thing is clear Apple does not care about it's customers.

Ok I still have the problem, after months of fighting with apple (August 2011 see my above post) I just gave up. . So about a month ago I decided to try a new credit card. Guess what, it works and charges my account... for two weeks. Two weeks later I go back to the rediculous credit card verification message on apple tv. validate your information on the computer. I enter my old credit card Visa and now it works again. Of course this will just work again until they decide it doesn't work again and I will be stuck unable to watch any movies. Does Apple ever read anything on these boards. I tried calling support and THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME for tech support since I am out of warranty. This isn't an equipment problem its a problem with the Itunes portion of the company. I am in year two of this nonsense with a device I can't use. I am just about ready to give up on the apple device and just use my Wii. Apple blames my credit card company and when I call them they say nothing is wrong....when it turned out to be two different credit card companies, I don't buy their answer.

I have the same problem with a unique twist. I am trying to order apps with my iPad. Declines card. Enter in credit card information. Apple excepts it. Still can't buy apps. So I thought "is iTunes experiencing the same problem. Ordered a movie and it worked no problem. Just the app store is declining my card.

Apparently apple doesn't know what to do. Will be following this closely.
