How can I update Maps on my iPhone 12?

Using iPhone 12 Pro in the uk.

Maps are way out of date. How can they be updated.

Hello!

You cannot update Apple Maps yourself. You can only make sure your iPhone is fully updated, to receive the latest updates (if any) to Apple Maps that Apple releases within regular iOS updates.
