Unable to use downloaded offline Apple Maps on iPhone 12

How to USE Apple Maps offline on iPhone 12 with iOS 26.

I have been to this page: Download offline maps on iPhone - Apple Support

This skips instructions on how to activate or USE the Downloaded map. I've got the map saved, my iPhone is offline (no cellular or WiFi operating), I have chosen the Saved Offline map. An image of the boxed area appears - now what? I have tried using the "Use Only Offline" both ways switched OFF and ON.

I've tapped all over the screen (except for Delete Map). Nothing happening.

If you just program a route that is within the area of the downloaded maps it will show your route on the map.

You must have Cellular enabled and Wi-Fi enabled, as both are used to determine your location, even if you have not coverage.

Yes. If you read my Post, I have done that.

I did that and I see the Map in Offline Maps. But when I choose it, I see the box around the map but there are no other clickable buttons, except to "Rename."

So you open Maps, you say “take me to my mother’s” and it doesn’t plot a route on the downloaded map?
