Macbook Air M1 Random Shut Down

My seldom-used Macbook Air M1, running the latest Sonoma 14.6.1 and a battery capacity of 98% (Cycle Count is 46) randomly shuts down when unplugged from the power cord, regardless of the remaining battery charge (60% or 30%, etc..). I don't encounter such issue when the power cord is plugged.

I got an error report and I'm sharing a few lines from it:

panic(cpu 0 caller 0xfffffe0022cb66ec): Driver IOUserServer(com.apple.IOUserBluetoothSerialDriver-0x100000ebe) has crashed too many times

 @IOUserServer.cpp:4222

Debugger message: panic

Memory ID: 0xff

OS release type: User

OS version: 23G93

Kernel version: Darwin Kernel Version 23.6.0: Mon Jul 29 21:14:21 PDT 2024; root:xnu-10063.141.2~1/RELEASE_ARM64_T8103

I researched about the said error but can't find a similar one, or a fix. Appreciate helpful inputs as my Mac is already out of warranty.

Thanks!

I do not think this is a Battery Issue per se.

Though, rather a possible Hardware issue or Third Party Kernel Extension(s) installed on this computer.

Initially, try , Restart in Safe Mode. This will perform a Disk Repair, clear cache files and only load Apple Software, extensions and fonts.

The boot up will be slow and can take some time - Normal.

Safe Mode should also eliminate Third Party Software, extensions and drivers from loading.

It will only load the Minimum amount of Core Apple Processes to allow the the computer to function at a reduced Level of Performance

Does the issue present in this mode ?

PRP_53,

Thanks for the input, I think it solved my Mac's problem.

Sorry it took me some time to respond as I did "rigid" tests to troubleshoot the issue. I followed your steps in running Safe Mode. I also installed CleanMyMac X (uninstalled programs that I don't use) and removed the USB-C mouse receiver from the Mac's port. For a week now, my Mac didn't randomly shut down when the power cord is unplugged.

Whatever that is, I therefore conclude that Macs are quite sensitive on certain hardware or software compatibility. May just be a one off, but it's a valuable lesson learned for me as I'm new to Macs.

Thanks for the help, appreciate it!

Follow on re CleanMyMac and " Always thought CleanMyMac X is a good app "

New macOS Malware "Cthulhu Stealer" Targets Apple Users' Data

Any Third Party Applications that will interfere with the normal operation of the OS,  is an invitation for disaster.

Certain Applications maybe available on the Apple Apps Store - this only means the Developer is prepared to pay Apple a percentage on each sale.

And Yes, CleanMyMac the last time I checked, was on the Apple Apps Store

What the Application may do to the computer is up to the User to check this out before purchase

Specific to CleanMyMac aka “ BrickMyMac

To put the CleanMyMac in context and the damages it may have or has already done.

This application can or will Muck Up your User Account ( Home Folder ) of this machine.

It does not touch the Operating System itself unless you consider your User Account ( Home Folder ) as part of the Operating System

Then in that specific context - it has Mucked Up the Operating  System
