iOS 17.6 update says Service battery under Parts and Service History

My iPhone 11 is about 3 months old and the battery health is at 100%.

After updating to iOS 17.6 and 17.6.1 there is now a message under the Parts and Service History indicating my battery needs Service. That message was not there with iOS 17.5. I'm wondering what this means? Are other people seeing this message? I called the local Apple store and was told this is a standard message and it doesn't mean anything. That seems illogical to me.

My iPhone 11 is about 3 months old

The iPhone 11 was discontinued by Apple in September 2022, so if the product really is "new" it has been sitting in a warehouse somewhere for about 2 years, which would not have been good for the battery at all.

Is it possible that you really bought a refurbished phone? Check with the seller to confirm.

and the battery health is at 100%

If the Battery Health really is at 100%, then you would not also be seeing a message that the battery needs service, so something is not right here. Maybe the Apple Store did not really understand what you were trying to ask about.

Make an appointment at the Apple Store or take the phone to an authorized Apple service shop to get the battery checked out.

I don't know when Apple stopped manufacturing the iPhone 11

As I already mentioned, Apple discontinued the iPhone 11 in September of 2022.

but there are still companies selling them

And, if they are claiming that the products are "new", the products have been sitting in a warehouse somewhere for the better part of two years.

if this is a bug related to the iOS update and everyone is now seeing this message

Your post was the first that I have seen that is trying to tie an update to a battery message. I can't find any other similar posts using the search tools here.

Frankly, what the Apple Store told you (was this an actual technician or a sales person?) is kind of like your car dealer telling you to ignore the check engine light in your car.

True, it might be a false alarm, but it happened for a reason.

You don't have to fool with appointments and the crowds at the Apple Store. Most of the other authorized shops don't even require an appointment and you might find a good shop that is a lot closer to you than the Apple Store.

Good luck.

and then came back and said it was related to the iOS update and that everyone would now see that message.

"Everyone"? That's funny.

This site would be flooded with posts if "everyone" was being affected.

I have two iPhone 11s here and neither one is displaying anything like this.

Fact is, the battery in your "new" iPhone sat for almost 2 years. That could not have been good for it.

How will you know when the battery actually does need service?

I spoke with a tech. She remotely accessed my phone so she could see the message and verify the battery health was at 100%. She put me on hold to research it and then came back and said it was related to the iOS update and that everyone would now see that message. That didn't really make sense to me. That's why I was asking if other iPhone 11 users are seeing the message.

The message showed up right after the iOS update so it is related to that update. I'm hoping a future update might fix it... I don't know when Apple stopped manufacturing the iPhone 11 but there are still companies selling them. For instance:

I don't want to waste my time going to an Apple store if this is a bug related to the iOS update and everyone is now seeing this message. The Apple store tells me that's the case but I'm skeptical.
