Importing audio files from Apple Music into Logic Pro for iPad

I have recordings from a live show of my band that I want to import into Logic Pro for iPad so I can work on them. I cannot find the files on my iPad, even though I can play the songs on Apple Music. Where are they? How do I get there? Please answer in step-by-step matter for slow learner.

Wait a second … you said they were recordings from a live show of your band? I assume that you got those into your iPad by first putting them into your Mac's Music library, then syncing them to the iPad using

  • Finder/iTunes synchronization,
  • iTunes Match, or
  • The Sync Library feature of the Apple Music subscription service

But you could also go into Music on your Mac, drag-and-drop the songs to the Desktop, and then copy them to iCloud Drive. That might make them available to Logic Pro on your iPad.

Songs that you put into the Music library aren't visible from the Files app.

They go into a hidden area on the iPad that only the Music app – and other apps written specifically to access that library – see. Presumably there is some framework for requesting access to the Music library and apps which can access the library are not going directly to the files, but going through the framework's APIs.
