Can I erase a stolen iPhone without removing it from my account?
My iPhone 15 was stolen a week ago. I could not locate it as it had been turned off. It was marked lost and the guys at the Apple Store said that is the best thing to do. I called my banks and they removed the apps and blocked access on that device. I made a report to the police. The phone was insured and I was able to get a replacement quickly. However, I am so anxious as I now see where it is located. I have to option to cancel erase and remove device, which I will NOT do as I understand that allows the thief to reuse the phone. When I put in my claim, the insurers stated that once the claim was made, I would not be able to use the phone again. But does that mean no one else can use it? I wish it could be erased but I don't see how to do that. This is making me feel sick! Is there anything else I should do please to safeguard my information?
