Macbook air purchase in Australia for international student

Hi,

I’m international student interested in purchasing a Macbook Air M2 13” 8GB and my university work requires some work including the Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. I’m switching from Window to Mac so totally brand new, and I have some questions;

  1. Should I purchase in store via authorised reseller? And am I able to get student discount there? Because I’m travelling quite far to get to the nearest Apple Store in the area.
  2. Can I have my device ready to set up with my Apple id and everything in store? I’m not tech savvy and in need of a laptop set up ready to use right where I purchase it.
  3. As I didn't plan to stay in Australia long term and in need of a durable laptop, and I’m aware that the electrical socket for charger in Australia is completely different than my home country, so is there any recommendation for this?
  4. As mentioned about not stay in Australia long term, I want to ask about the warranty of Macbook Air M2 13” 8GB. Is this model be able to repair (if damage) in Vietnam (if applicable)? Or it’s just restricted to Apple Australia’s repair services only?
  5. What’s the process of purchasing Apple devices in-store as I’m an international student? Do I need to bring any document with me?
  6. Given my uni work and prefer Macbook Air model, can I get some recommendation regarding this as well?

Thanks a lot for reading this, hope to get some answers.

Only if its convenient. You can use Apple's Online Store for Australia if going to a store is not easy or accessible to you.

Yes, they can help you set it up in store.

3. As I didn't plan to stay in Australia long term and in need of a durable laptop, and I’m aware that the electrical socket for charger in Australia is completely different than my home country, so is there any recommendation for this?

Apple chargers are universal, you would just need a plug adapter to connect to the wall; socket wherever you may be, or just purchase a power adapter in the country you plan to use it after Australia.

Possibly, but would need to inquire that of the Apple Authorized services providers in Vietnam. Normally, for Macs warranty is valid worldwide. Only cellular items and Apple Tvs have the country restriction.

5. What’s the process of purchasing Apple devices in-store as I’m an international student? Do I need to bring any document with me?

No. You don't need any documentation. You pick a Mac and pay just like anybody else.

6. Given my uni work and prefer Macbook Air model, can I get some recommendation regarding this as well?

Very personal decision. There's 2 screen sizes of MacBook Air, outside of that your only other choice will be storage space and ram.

Get as much of both as budget allows. But I would not consider anything less than 16GB of RAM though.

Storage, you can offset with an external hard drive, so 512GB should be fine.

Of course. You should buy from Apple or an authorized reseller. As for the student discount, you would need to consult the website of the Apple Store in country to see what, if any, discounts or offers are available. Typically such offers are only online and not in store.

Sure

Your warranty is only valid in the country of purchase.

You shouldn't need anything except perhaps ID to pick up your device.

Contact the school you will be attending and ask what is the best computer for your course of study. You need to be 100% compatible with the computing requirements of your course of study, other students, and your professors.

It’s the same worldwide. The model you purchase in one country is exactly the same to the same model if purchased in a different country.

The only difference may be the keyboard layout. In Australia it will be in English, in Vietnam it will likely be one of the Vietnamese layouts so certain keys may be different. But you can set the input language in ten OS to whatever you want.
