MacBook Pro 2011 13" shutting down unexpectedly

My 2011 mbp has run out of battery health and is running off of the charger. Its running pretty slow and after a time of 20 minutes is shutting off without any obvious reasons and then isnt working even while plugged in. I made it work after 4-5 cycles of plugging in and out and then it works but again only for 20 minutes before shutting down again.. so if anyone knows what to do please help me out

Disconnect all external devices in case one of them is causing a problem (except for the power adapter of course).

Try running the Apple Diagnostics to see if any hardware issues are detected beside the bad battery.

Leave the laptop sitting booted to the completed diagnostics screen for 30 minutes to see if it shuts down there as well. Some Apple diagnostics have an option to run a longer test....if yours has that option, then try that as well.

Try booting into Safe Mode to see if that makes any difference.

I would try creating & using a bootable Knoppix USB stick to see how the laptop behaves. Plus booting a Knoppix USB stick you can check the health of the internal drive by using the "GSmartControl" app. I have instructions for doing this on my other post here:
