I use the Proton VPN and your instructions solved this problem.  After deleting the profile, it was a simple

matter of re-enabling this VPN and now I’m back online.  My system’s an iPhone 15 Pro running iOS

Do you use VPN? If so, delete the VPN profile in Settings/General/VPN & Device Management/VPN. Don't just turn it off; delete the profile.

I am also having this issue on my iPad and have not been able to find a solution. However I do not have a VPN

I had the exact same thing happen to me. On iPhone I could not download apps from the app store and on the mac I got a little bit different message saying that it could not install. Anyway, after much digging, here is what fixed my problem. Go to your settings and select wi-fi. On the connected network name, click the circled "i" then scroll down to the DNS section. Select manual configuration and you will see the servers. Add two dns servers: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. Those are google dns servers, I believe. That should fix your problem. If you have a mac you can do the same thing, although the instructions on how to get there are a little different. Good luck!

I posted a workaround for this problem but have since found another solution. I changed my router to use IPv6 rather than v4 and that fixed the problem. I did not have to use any static dns server numbers. I am not sure if this problem surfaced because of my ISP or if Apple made some changes on their servers. Anyway, give IPv6 a try if your router will let you change.
