Onscreen keyboard keeps popping up whenLogitech Combo Touch keyboard detached and re attached - fix found
I have seen several users with the same issue and I had the same issue and struggled for nearly a month. The fact that it randomly popped up and sometimes it didnt made me believe it is not a hardware issue but rather either a setting or software issue.
After much trial, error and observation, I have stumbled upon the solution quite by accident.
Will describe all items in detail even though some users may be doing some of them.
Firstly, in Settings, General, Keyboard, Shortcuts setting should be Toggled Off. I understand from the net that this is to let the iPad detect the hardware keyboard. It worked for me.
More importantly for the software keyboard to stop popping up when Logitech keyboard is attached or when detached and re attached do the following
Close all apps where the onscreen keyboard is appearing. Or alternatively, at least hide the onscreen keyboard (by pressing the keyboard key on the bottom right) in the apps.
After attaching/re attaching lock the iPad by closing the cover (keyboard portion of the case) wait for about 5-10 seconds and then open the cover and unlock the keyboard. The onscreen keyboard should not now appear. It is important to lock the iPad by closing the cover - if you lock it by pressing the power button to lock/unlock it will not work.
For a plug and play device not sure why it should be this way but it is. I have been trying this for the last 3-4 days (after struggling for a month) and it works perfectly. Have also raised this as a feedback with both Apple and Logitech that they can include it on their support community or in the instruction manuals.
