iPad Pro M2 11 inch - As of late, NOT working well with the magic key board & Magic Mouse

I have been having this issue for a while now. My iPad Pro M2 11inch - 1TB, stops working the track pad of the Magic Keyboard and the Magic Mouse detection completely stops . There is no indication of the mouse to be found. Only solution is to either take the iPad off the key board and stow it back (doesn’t work most times) or restart the iPad. Should this be an OS issue that was never fixed?

Presumably you refer to either a Smart (folio) keyboard, or Magic Keyboard for iPad.

If you are experiencing difficulties with reliable operation, remove the iPad from the Keyboard - and carefully/gently clean the smart connector contacts on both the iPad and keyboard with a soft pencil eraser (a drafting-film eraser is ideal). Ensure that the contacts on both iPad and keyboard are dirt and dust free - and all debris from the eraser have been removed - before reconnecting the two.

Should the problem persist, the Keyboard may have developed an internal fault. With extended use, the electrical connections that pass through the flexible fabric hinges can fracture. If the Keyboard has developed a fault, it cannot be repaired - only replaced.

Possibly you ran into a bug not widely identified: The iPad refuses to accept text-input from external keyboard (Magic or really external connected by dock) and does not switch back to software-keyboard either. CMD-Tab or CMD-Space are working though!

Came up with around iPadOS 17, initially stopped happening since 17.3.1, but just happened again to me with 17.4.1.

Restarting helped me until now.

Since it comes and goes with system software changes I don‘t believe in hardware fault.
