"coverage expired" on brand new MacBook Air M2

Purchased my machine brand new from an authorised retailer (not apple) and during setup I noticed the coverage has expired. Got through to apple who were fairly helpful and seemed to think that its an issue with the fact its an M2 15" which isn't in their current catalogue so they're going to look into it. Anyone heard of this happening? The box was sealed etc with the static paper on the screen and sealed cables etc. Im hoping this wasn't a sneaky return that ive picked up and the seller was unaware? Ive checked the battery info and its on its second cycle so I don't feel its been used but I'm wondering if its possible to accidentally pick up a returned item from an apple seller. Any pointers would be appreciated. Ive reached out to apple who have referred it to some other department. Thanks in advance

It´s a common issue when buying a non current Mac model. You need to contact Apple and submit the POP (proof of purchase) that Very.co.uk gave to you (paper or digital).
