Downloads folder checked but not in finder window sidebar

I wanted to drag several items from downloads into specific document folders. I opened two Finder windows. I noticed that my Downloads folder is gone. I looked for the solution and saw that I should check 'settings' (now Preferences?) to make sure it has a check in the box. It does, but Downloads folder still isn't showing. I rebooted the iMac to see if it showed up, but no luck. My machine is an Intel i5 running Monterey 12.7.6, if that matters. TIA

p.s. Is it just me, or is the topic list very limited? My question is more about the Finder than anything, IMO. That option doesn't exist. :/

I think it may be easier for you if you just call AppleCare and ask them to assist. Please let them know the version of Mac OS installed. If you are unsure, click the Apple symbol in the upper left of the display and then select About this Mac and it will tell you the version number. This will confirm what you posted about being on Monterey 12.7.6 which is an extremely old version of Mac OS. You also may want to see if your iMac is up-to-date, if it is not then it would be wise to update it. If you have gone to the last version of Mac OS that your machine will support then it may also be time to consider a replacement Mac if you have the need.

Do you see the "Favorites" section in the Sidebar? If so, hover over it and make sure the arrow immediately to the right is pointing down. If not, then click it to reveal those items.

If Downloads is still missing from you sidebar, try simply opening a new Finder window, navigating to the Downloads folder and drag that folder to the sidebar. It should create a shortcut on the sidebar.
