iphone contention with gm infotainment system

When my Iphone is connected to my 2024 GMC Sierra Infotainment System, there is something causing the volume to go almost all the way down intermittently. It happens about every 5 minutes and lasts for about 5 to 10 seconds. There are no alerts coming in, so it is not that. It affects it no matter if I'm playing music from the phone, or using Sirius XM, or even AM/FM radio. If the phone is not in the vehicle, it does not happen. There is something going on in the background that is causing this issue. I have heard others on GM forums state the same thing. Any ideas?

I've seen reports about random volume changes in GMC and other GM trucks dating back months if not years, so as you indicate, you're definitely not alone. One suggestion has been to reboot the system:

Your vehicle must be in PARK to reboot your system. Press and hold the END CALL button on your steering wheel for about 15 seconds until your center screen turns black, then release the END CALL button. After approximately 5-10 seconds, you will see the welcome screen and your infotainment system will reboot itself.

Another one is to call OnStar and ask them to update or reset their system. That seems unlikely to me, but one owner at least said it cured the problem for him.

Not having a GM vehicle I can't attest to whether either suggestion will fix the problem, but others have claimed success. Hope this helps
