Why does Waze default to WiFi after iOS 17.6.1 update?

Since the iOS 17.6.1 update the Waze app defaults to WiFi and will not access data with Apple Car Play. The app then defaults to “off-line maps” that are worthless. I have used this app for several years and never had this problem. I’ve tried reinstalling Waze, removing the VPN setting and hard reset of iPhone 14 … nothing seems to work!

any suggestions?

Apps on iPhone can be configured individually to use cellular data or not. Please verify the setting:

  • On cellular (in contrast with Wi-Fi), apps would have a permission setting to use cellular data. Settings﹥Cellular﹥[scroll down to apps list] [your chosen app]﹥
