Draw Outline shapes on a photo

Please restore the basic, simple and logical steps to enable me to use the outline of a geometric shape on a photo. This is a basic and useful function that for reason I cannot figure out, vanished in iOS17. There may be a complicated hack but I use Apple because the system is intuitive. I fried and failed. Just please bring it back.

iPhone 14 Pro, iOS 17

Seems pretty basic to me. Have you seen the instructions?

Use Markup on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Perhaps you saw this at the lower right:

It says that you choose the shape, then choose the border color,

and then choose the fill color. I'm choosing a red border with a clear fill.

I got this:

As Alancito points out, we are not Apple; we are just users like you. Some of us hang around here from time to time in case our experience may help someone. We don't get paid and we don't have a schedule, and leaving an angry post won't encourage us to offer any help. Frankly, most people just let posts with this tone go by.

Here's a hint: when you ask someone for help, Apple, or anybody, really, you're more likely to get results by being polite and serious, and clearly stating your concern. Lay it out clearly and concisely, and include any details and maybe nicely sized screenshots that will help someone help you. Remember that the person who reads your post probably is in no way connected with the cause of your rant.

I got it now! Thanks for leading me to a solution. I needed to understand this.

When you add a shape, there are 4 circles below the picture.

From left to right:

1. The 1st circle (at the left) lets you pick the color and the transparency of the border. —leave it at 100% and pick a color. Click Done above right.

2. The 2nd circle determines the thickness of the border. —5 pt is good—but easy to adjust thicker. Again, click Done above right.

3. The 3rd circle controls the color of the interior of the shape. Set its transparency slider to zero for an empty shape.

4. The 4th circle (at the right) determines the overall transparency. Leave it at 100%. Click Done above right.
