Beats Flex in-ear wired buds terrible microphone

I bought two pairs of beats flex full price at the Apple Store less than a year ago and everybody complains about the microphone! Even if I move the microphone from my neck to the front of my mouth I still get complaints! How can everything else be such good quality but the microphone completely stinks? Both pairs are equally bad so it’s not a one-off defect
