Express Travel Card not working, saying ‘too many cards’
I have two cards set up on Apple Pay: my Visa, and a Monzo account. I use Monzo for transport and travel only, so my default card for Apple Pay is my Visa card, and the Monzo card is set as my Express Travel Card.
I commute daily, and it’s been really helpful having the Express Travel Card on my phone. But for the past few days, this function hasn’t worked. Whenever I tap my phone, it won’t show the Monzo card on my phone screen, and the error on the ticket barrier says “too many cards used”.
I’ve triple-checked my settings, and I definitely only have two cards set up for Apple Pay, the Visa being the default Apple Pay card and the Monzo one ticked as the Express Travel Card.
I don’t know whether the issue is with Apple Pay, with my phone’s software in general, with Monzo, or the TfL ticket barriers themselves (some barriers seem to be ok).
I’ve checked the Monzo app and my iOS to see if they need updating and both are showing as up to date. It’s causing unnecessary and embarrassing hold-ups on the London Underground during rush hour and I hate being that person!!
