Can’t edit, copy, paste or cut text messages

I just got a new iPhone 13 days ago, which has many great features but the texting is very frustrating. The spell correct is very bad it’s hard to place the cursor, so I gave to rewrite everything I need to correct but now it’s stopped allowing me to edit at all. All I get is a magnifier, so I can’t even take the text into

notes to edit. Now the copy paste button is appearing but it won’t allow me to place a cursor, only remove a whole word. I am disappointed.

also the level of support from apple here seems very low, considering the price of the phone. Questions from January with inadequate answers. My

Old oppo was easier to text with.
