Can’t update any appso 12 because a new payment method is needed. I went and viewed my subscription there is a cancelled subscription that continues to bill me. I haven’t used this app and cancelled within the free trial period

You will need to cancel a free trial at least 24 yours before the trial period ends, otherwise you may be billed for the subscription. Everything you have described indicates that you did cancel the subscription so you will no longer be billed for it, but it wasn't done within that time frame to avoid the first charge.
