My husband messed up my dog's apple air tag by trying to pair it with his Samsung. It would not work (of course) and now I can't get it to pair back with my iPhone. We are following the directions - we think! - but FindMy still won't connect with it. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Do you both share the same Apple ID? (You shouldn't.)
I'm going to assume you each have your own Apple ID. As such, at this point, I suggest that you reset your AirTag, and then, try pairing it with your iPhone again. Ref: How to reset your AirTag - Apple Support
