Routined has quit unexepectedly

MacOS 11.7.10

Getting every few minutes the popup:

Tried the following based on previous answers:

"You could disable it by...

Disabling SIP...

Disabling and Enabling System Integrity Protection | Apple Developer Documentation

Then renaming it's .plist

sudo mount -rw /
sudo mv /System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.routined.plist /System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.routined.plist.disabled

But ended up with:

Andreis-MacBook:~ Andrei$ sudo mount -rw /

mount_apfs: volume could not be mounted: Permission denied

What else can I do here in order to solve the issue?

Thanks a lot for your help and time!

MacBook, macOS 11.7

Yikes! I would not suggest changing any of the System files and don't forget to re-enable your SIP.

You should determine what is causing your routined to crash. Post the free EtreCheck report using the Additional Text option when posting. The report contains no personal information and will be able to provide more details about what is going on.

  • SIP is still disabled
  • Low Disk Space
  • Apple Security Disabled
  • Computer may not be stable on Battery Power
  • CleanMyMac must be removed with uninstaller
  • Multiple VPN files will conflict
  • Read/Write HD speed is dismal - This is causing slow performance and most likely beach balling
  • Bittorent files still running without the actual application

In my opinion your best approach is going to be a clean install and verify your system is then stable. Add applications one at a time until you see the problem again. CleanMyMac should never be installed. The routined process is location related and the multiple VPN are most likely contributing to the crash. App Cleaner is not helping and is consuming valuable Memory and CPU cycles. Express VPN and VPNTracker9 has installed Kernel Extensions that will be very difficult to remove, if possible at all, without doing a clean install.

Just to highlight the extensive number of files that are launching on startup and why I feel the clean install is the best approach, here is a list of the files in the launch folders that would need addressed:

/Library/LaunchDaemons

  • com.microsoft.OneDriveUpdaterDaemon.plist - This is unsigned and should be signed by Microsoft
  • com.ipvanish.IPVanish.VPNHelper.plist - Another VPN and is unsigned
  • com.anonymizer.deltavpn.L2TPConfigurator.plist - Another VPN
  • com.macpaw.CleanMyMac3.Scheduler.plist - Reason given already
  • com.anonymizer.deltavpn.DeltaVPNInstaller.plist - Another VPN
  • com.anonymizer.deltavpn.GreenlightInterrogator.plist - Again and not signed
  • com.macpaw.CleanMyMac-setapp.Agent.plist - Again
  • com.anonymizer.deltavpn.DeltaVPNOpenVPNHelper.plist
  • HWNetMgr.plist - Not signed
  • com.equinux.VPNTracker9.agent.plist
  • com.expressvpn.expressvpnd.plist

/Library/LaunchAgants

  • HWPortCfg.plist - Not signed
  • com.google.keystone.agent.plist - Normally should be signed
  • com.google.keystone.xpcservice.plist - Normally should be signed
  • org.macosforge.xquartz.startx.plist - Not signed, installed 9 years ago and most likely not updated

~/Library/LaunchAgents

  • com.bittorrent.uTorrent.plist
  • com.macpaw.CleanMyMac3.Scheduler.plist
  • com.macpaw.CleanMyMac4.HealthMonitor.plist
