My new iPhone 15 asks me to log into strange Apple ID every time it gets a network signal

I purchased a iPhone 15 Pro Max within the last few months. On a recent road trip I am discovering that every time I lose network signal and then get it back it asks me to sign into a strange Apple ID (martin.lead.no) that is not mine or known to me in any way.

  • I have removed any/all suspect apps or any on the phone that hadn't been downloaded or used recently
  • I turned off automatic app downloads on cell network connections in the settings
  • I have an Apple one subscription so should not be in possession of any strange purchased music, I see no way to manage it if I am
  • I have minimal other media movies, books that have known purchase origins

I spoke with Apple Care support chat for hours, they gave me nothing more than we need you to reset your phone in order to escalate. Seriously that is the kind of tech support I would expect from the cable company not a global tech company.

What is even more alarming if I lose signal in the night while DND/sleep is active it will audibly alert + a display banner!!??!! If that is not considered a bug by the folks at Apple then I am not sure you understand what DND means.

Any reasonable suggestions beyond resetting to factory settings would be appreciated.

Sealed in what way, shrink wrapped? It’s under warranty, so return to Apple for service. You don’t want to, then reset it, and install as a new device, do not restore from your backup and see if the same symptoms present. If no, unknown email, then reset and restore from backup and see if symptoms present.

Do you have any profiles installed at this path,

iPhone > Settings > General > VPN & Device Management

If you have profiles installed who are they from and why are they there?

Why wouldn’t you? They sold you a iPhone that has obvious issues. I have suspicions they sold you a used device that wasn’t restored properly before reselling it. My suspicions are supported by your posts above. You can tell for sure, yourself, by resetting the iPhone. If it’s registered to another owner, it’ll be activation locked and useless. If my suspicions are correct, they have an obligation to support you and make the situation right. This is something Apple can’t do, because you purchased the device from Verizon. If you want to return it for a warranty repair, it’ll be reset and then again, you’ll know for sure.

I think your next call should be to your IT department and seek their advice on the issue. Some profiles are more permanent than others and a reset will not remove them. The iPhone needs to be reset by computer to remove the profile.

This could be a known issue with your IT department. Just follow up, but basically your iPhone, as you describe it, is acting perfectly normal, given the present state it’s in.

Enjoy your vacation and safe travels.

It came in a box with the cardboard pull tab seal at the end like all Apple devices come with these days. Definitely factory sealed.

As I said looking for tips/suggestion that don't involve resetting my phone, eventually when I am home I will do that but I'm not going to spend a whole day of my vacation re-installing all the apps I need. Also not loading from my backup is definitely not a great solution, I'd hate to lose 15 years worth of iPhone data.

In my VPN & Device Management I do have my work profile, ie to access company email (Big company 100k+). Same one I have had on every iPhone I owned for the last 10 years.
