Why am I receiving HomeKit Notifications on my iPhone when I don't have HomeKit?

homekit - Home App I may have found a bug in HomeKit. From time to time my devices stop responding in the Home App. The latest incident had 2 Roku Streaming sticks, 1 Lutron Switch, an Eve Camera and a Logitech Circle View Camera stop responding. The same lack of response was noted on 5 Apple devices all running v16.4.1. The primary device is an iPhone 14 Pro. By sheer luck I may have found the problem. I restarted my iPhone 14 Pro and as soon as it was shut down, I started getting notifications on my other devices that response had been re-established. When my iPhone 14 had fully restarted, I started the Home App and sure enough all devices were responding. This is the third time I have been able to replicate this.

Why am I getting iphone notifications for "My Home"? Around 1am I started getting notifications for My Home saying "A home hub is now responding." Having absolutely no ideas what that meant, I clicked on the notification. It sent me to the app store and downloaded an app called Home. I clicked on the app and after opening, nothing happened. How is it possible an app I don't have installed is sending me notifications? Why am I getting these notifications? What does "A home hub is now responding" mean? How do I stop these notifications? If I don't have an app installed it's not listed under notifications, so I can't shut them off. Apple...(sigh)

What does the error message say, and when exactly does it occur?

And yes, you do have HomeKit, though you may not have a Home hub anywhere. HomeKit is a core piece of Apple's operating systems and has been for a while now. The Home app is the user-facing interface for that system.
